Blue Eagles suspend coach
Blue Eagles have suspended their Coach, Audraw Makonyola, due to the TNM Super League team’s poor performance.
Eagles General Secretary, Ulemu Kalua, Monday said the Executive Committee made the decision during a meeting held in Lilongwe on Sunday, a day after the team’s 3-1 loss to Kamuzu Barracks.
“It is true that we have suspended our coach with immediate effect. As you are aware, the team is failing to produce good results. However, he has not gone for good. We may decide to recall him but, in the meantime, his assistant Christopher Sibale will be the caretaker coach as he possesses a Caf B-Licence,” Kalua said.
In a letter addressed to Makonyola, Eagles Chairperson, Alexander Ngwala, stated that Makonyola was failing to enforce discipline in the team on and off the field of play.
In his reaction, Makonyala said: “I am hearing this from you but, if that is the case, then I need to respect their decision and wish the club well.”
Last week, Eagles Captain, Micium Mhone, was shown a red card during the team’s 2-0 loss to league leaders Be Forward Wanderers 2-0.
