New Silver Strikers Coach, Daniel Kabwe, is free to axe more players if they fail to make the grade ahead of the 2020 season.
Silver players were expected to regroup Tuesday to undergo trials under the guidance of the Zambian mentor.
Silver Board of Chairperson, Victor Madhlopa, said players that will fail to impress Kabwe will be sold or released.
“The team is regrouping on Tuesday [yesterday]. The coach has made it clear that all remaining players would be required to undergo trials to check if they fit into his plans. As such we might end up selling or releasing some players,” he said.
Silver recently released 17 players who were deemed surplus to requirements.
Some of the released players include Green Harawa, Mphatso Philemon, Kondwani Mwaila, Lazarus Nyemera, Blessings Kameza, Damiano Kunje and Timothy Chitedze.
Madhlopa said the new coach has been given a free-hand to enable him turn-around things at the bankers.
“The coach is in-charge of all technical issues and we will be supporting him to change our story,” he said.
Kabwe has won titles in Zambia with Zanaco and also in eSwatini.
For the past three years, Silver made history by becoming the first club to win the Airtel Top 8 Cup twice.
