Malawi’s top boxer, Isaac ‘Golden Boy’ Chilemba, wants to bounce back strongly with a possible fight slated for June 2019.
“We are working on two fights which might happen in June or earlier but they are not yet confirmed. As soon as this is confirmed, I will make a proper announcement. My management team is busy discussing possible deals,” the South Africa-based Malawian boxer said.Advertisement
Chilemba has not fought since losing a World Boxing Association World Light Heavyweight title bout on August 4 2018 to Dmitry Bivol in the United States.
The 31-year-old boxer has, however, been training hard in anticipation of a fight.
“I have been in the gym boxing and sparring every now and then. I have also been running and conditioning just to stay in shape. And, when the fight comes up, I will just increase and push up the fitness,” said the boxer who has, in his career, posted 25 wins, including 10 knockouts, six defeats and two draws.Advertisement
Chilemba has had an illustrious career in South Africa since 2005 when he left Malawi and has won titles such as the World Boxing Council (Africa), World Boxing Council International and African Boxing Union light heavyweight.
