Malawi’s Flames versatile attacker John ‘CJ’ Banda has completed his switch in Mozambique league from Ferroviaro de Nampula to champions UD Songo after signing a one-year contract.
Banda, who spent three years at Nampula, will link at Songo with elder brother Frank and compatriot Charles Swini when pre-season training starts on January 8.
Banda confirmed that he was now a Songo player and hopes to impress his new employers next season.
Banda said his target was to win the Mocambola League next season.
“I am very excited that I have joined a team of my choice. I want to win the championship in Mozambique. I look forward to opportunities beyond Mozambique,” he said.Advertisement
Songo won the league title for the second consecutive year. On the other hand, Banda helped Nampula to a fourth place finish on the log table with 47 points, having netted seven goals.
Banda moved to Nampula in 2015 from Blue Eagles alongside striker Schumacher Kuwali.

Costa do Sol have Malawian players namely Richard Mbulu, Matthews Sibale and Chawanangwa Kawonga whereas Ndaziona Chatsalira is on the books of Nampula.
Other Malawian players based in Mozambique are Dangalira Mnelemba, Simplex Nthala, Sankhani Nyirenda, Innocent Jere, Idrissa Walesi and Moses Chavula.
