Old Mutual, Nedbank, Mpico in joint Family Day celebrations
Old Mutual Malawi, Nedbank and Mpico on Saturday joined hands to celebrate a Family Day during an event held in Blantyre.
The event started with a march from Blantyre central business district to College of Medicine Sports Complex in the commercial capital which was joined by Blantyre City Mayor Noel Chalamanda.
Other activities that marked the day include blood donation, blood pressure checking, football, athletics and many others.
Old Mutual Malawi Acting Chief Executive Officer Edith Jiya described the day as crucial for the three companies.
Jiya said a healthy staff complement begins in the family, adding that staff performance goes up when their families are in good shape.
“That is why we organised this event so that we celebrate together with our families as one way of promoting healthy families,” said Jiya.
During the event, the members of staff and their families were also drilled in how to prepare delicious meals in addition to how to take care of their gardens.
Nedbank Chief Financial Officer Vera Zulu said her bank values the welfare of its members of staff and their families.
Zulu said the family is the most important institution in any member of staff’s life, therefore, the need for the family to be celebrated and strengthened.
Both Nedbank and Mpico are related to Old Mutual as Old Mutual is one of the major shareholders in Mpico. On the other hand, Nedbank Limited is 97.1 percent owned by South Africa’s Nedbank Group which is controlled by Old Mutual PLC, incorporated in the United Kingdom.
