Petroleum Importers Limited commits to quality education
Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL) has made a donation of K100 million to go towards construction of a multipurpose hall at the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar).
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Lilongwe on Tuesday, PIL Board Chairman, Zubeir Bhana, said the grouping is keen to support efforts aimed at promoting access to quality higher education.
“Here at Luanar, students learn in a make shift facility which is not very conducive and we felt duty bound to assist,” he said.
Bhana further appealed to the beneficiaries to take care of the infrastructure.
“Our message to the direct beneficiaries of this donation is a simple request to jealously guard the infrastructure facilities within these premises so that even their siblings should use them in future,” he said.
Luanar Council Chairman, Professor James Seyani, thanked PIL for the support.
“The infrastructure will provide a suitable environment for students to study and advance in their chosen field of specialisation,” he said.
