Organisers of the free-of-charge Tumaini Festival, which is held at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District, will hold launch parties ahead of the main event.

Founder Menes la Plume Thursday said it has become a tradition for them to hold a launch before the main event.

“Last year, we did it two weeks before the festival. We are doing it again this year and we are hoping to do it every year to put our audience in the mood before the main festival at Dzaleka,” Menes said.

The fifth edition of the festival will be launched Saturday at Everest Restaurant in Lilongwe, where Erik Paliani and Congolese group Etoile de la Paix as well as DJs Skyflexx and Love will perform.

“We are very prepared for the event. All artists are ready and excited to perform and we are also excited to introduce to Lilongwe a new performance venue,” he said.

The two-day Tumaini Festival will be held from November 2 to 3 and organisers have released the 2018 line-up.

“We want to give our audience a great experience at Tumaini Festival. Even if we do not have all the resources, we care about quality,” he said.

Menes said this is why they have attracted Erik and Etoile de la Paix for Saturday’s show.
