Unicaf advances education standards
Unicaf University has pledged to provide its students academic programmes that are relevant and significant to the country’s socio and economic development. The university’s Vice Rector Professor Kuthemba Mwale said Unicaf is for Africa, thus the need to help Africans develop just like other continents.
“All we are doing is to raise African awareness and have education standards which will help to develop the continent. We bring relevant programmes because we want people to have a new look at life and the world,” he said
Recently, the university held an open lecture to interact with the community and also to share the significance of education in busi n e ss success .
Henry Kachaje, President of Economists Association of Malawi(Ecam), who was the guest speaker, said university education especially with an influx of private institutions continues to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
“If you look at public institutions, they seem to be facing a number of challenges, where they are either closed or face another challenge. These private universities are filling that gap but what needs to be encouraged is adherence to high standards so that the students that are going through the education are contributing well to the nation,” he said
He further encouraged institutions of higher learning to adopt the concept of distance learning in order to increase access to higher learning education among the youth.
