Wendy Harawa back with fourth album
Dancer and singer Wendy Harawa is out with her fourth album, Nalliah.
The singer, who is one of the few women ploughing in secular music, said yesterday that the nine-track album is named after her daughter, adding that the song was written by Lucius Banda.
“Nalliah is the name of my daughter and it is dedicated to her and all the girl children of Malawi and Africa. In the song, I am encouraging them to strive to be educated because education is the way to a better future,” Wendy said.
The album was recorded in Zambia and Malawi. The studios that recorded her music include Kabin, Digital and Future 101.
The female musician has worked with DJ Sley and musicians in the album. These include DJ Cosmo, Zambia’s dancehall queen Dambisa, Hamooba, Pilato and Leo Muntu.
Wendy revealed that she will launch the album on April 1 at Lingadzi Inn Mandimu Gardens in Lilongwe under Impakt Events.
“There is a song in the album, ‘Ambuye Ndionetseni’, which is a cover version of JK’s ‘Lesa Ndangeni’,” Harawa said.
“I am finalising music videos. I am happy that, finally, everything is ready. This year I intend to give out my best in music, something I have withheld from my fans for a longtime,” Harawa said.
In ‘Ambuye Ndionetseni’, Wendy sings softly while keeping to her touch. Other songs in the album are ‘Still Me’, ‘Chikondi Chabe’ and ‘Boo Boo Tiye’.
Her previous albums are Nowa, Hero and Africa.
The video for Ambuye Ndionetseni was expected to be premiered yesterday while Nalliah will be premiered next week.
