Ka Jive Dance competition grand finale will be held on December 27 at Times Entertainment Studios in Blantyre.
This follows successful semi-finals held at the same venue on Saturday which saw 17 groups showcasing their dance moves with 10 winning the hearts of the judges’ pannel of Talumba Chirwa, Rina and Robert Magasa to make it to the final.
Initially, 20 groups were supposed to star during the semi-final but three groups failed.
Times Group Advertising Manager – Radio and Television, Alfred Kanjere, confirmed after the semi-finals that the grand finale would be held on December 27 2021.
“We could have gone for a bigger venue but we are observing the strict Covid measures. We are looking forward to the best, just as we have been entertained to the fullest throughout the other steps,” Kanjere said.
The groups that have made it to the final and would be battling it out for the top prize of K1 million are B Squad Crew, Annos Africa Dance Crew, The Invisible Dance Crew, Khybon Extra Dance Crew, Team Ice, The Gap Connection, Fearless Dancers, Groovers Dance Crew, Brightos Dance Crew and Luchenza ABC.
One of the judges, Robert Magasa said the competition has been tight.
It becomes sad to see some groups exit but that is what a competition is all about. There is so much potential in young people and dance needs to be given more support,” Magasa, a contemporary dancer, said.
The semi-finals which were also beamed live on Times Television, saw the groups tell stories of among other things, peace, love and education in their dance.
Through the platform, young people also voiced out some of the challenges they face in their day to day life.
Hosted by Blak Jak and Mirriam Ntambo, the semi-finals were spiced up by a performance from Mellz Kumpanje, who also excited young people with his songs.
