15-year-old win Old Mutual golf
Fifteen-year-old Adil Parker braved scorching heat to outshine 110 golfers and win Old Mutual Connect golf tournament at Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday.
Parker, playing off handicap nine, amassed 40 points to claim his title on the 18-hole golf course.
Medson Kambalume finished second on 39 points, two points ahead of third-placed veteran golfer, Lucky Penemulungu.
In the ladies category, Marie LeeCho emerged champion with 32 points, whereas Ekari Mvula counted out S. Nevin on 31 points to finish second. Sheilla Chnkhandwe won the longest drive.
During the prize presentation, Old Mutual acting chief executive officer, Edith Jiya, hailed the golfers for gracing the competition.
“One of the aims of the golf tournament was to interact with our customers and we are glad because the competition received an overwhelming response,” Jiya said.
The tournament was organised to engage Lilongwe clients under the theme “Old Mutual Connect, which is the company’s online service.
During the event, Old Mutual unveiled two online services Member web view and UT Connect. The Member web view enables clients to view their pension statements, whereas the UT Connect enables them to view statements from their unit Trust Investments.
