2 concerts for Sinach

Nigeria’s multi-award winning gospel musician Osinachi Joseph, popularly known as Sinach, will this weekend perform in the country.

The Nigerian singer will perform at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe Saturday before winding up with a show at Blantyre Sports Club on Sunday.

Her two performances come barely a week after another Nigerian gospel musician, Jimmy D Psalmist of the ‘Mighty Man of War’ fame, also performed in the country at Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

Jimmy D Psalmist has since collaborated with Wendy Harawa and Lulu in a song titled ‘Chisomo’.

Sinach, however, will have more to show as she will perform in Lilongwe and Blantyre.

She will be joined at the two shows by the country’s musician Patience Namadingo.

The gospel singer has since said she is prepared and excited to perform in the country for the first time.

“I assure Malawians to expect the best and I am prepared,” Sinach said through social media.

According to available information, the musician, in 2016, was the first recipient of the Lima Songwriter of the Decade Award, which recognised her outstanding and undeniable contribution to gospel music in the past decade, with her songs being sung in many countries.

The same year, she also received the African Achievers’ Award for Global Excellence, putting her in a prestigious list of Africans which include Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu and Joyce Banda among others.

W h e n speaking on how she came by her stage name Sinach, she said:

“I chose that from my name Osinachi because it is easy to pronounce and catchy”.

As a songwriter, Sinach has written over 200 songs and won several other awards.

Her song ‘This Is Your Season’ won the Song of the Year award in 2008.

Many of her songs are sung by several churches and people all over the world and one of her most popular is ‘I Know Who I Am’.

Her albums include Chapter One, I’m Blessed, Shout it Loud, From Glory to Glory and Sinach at Christmas.
