2 girls to participate in the Zambia Ladies Open

Ladies Golf Union of Malawi (LGUoM) has selected a team of 12 lady golfers, including two up-and-coming junior players, to participate in the 2021 Zambia Ladies Open Golf Challenge in Lusaka, Zambia, next month.
The three-day tournament will be played at the elegant Bonanza Golf Estate from June 4 to 6.
Ashley Chirwa and Rihanna Coombes, both 14 years of age, are the two upcoming girls that will represent Malawi.
Chirwa and Coombes are 20 and 24 handicaps, respectively.
Linda Kunje, who is LGUoM Secretary General of the Ladies Golf Union of Malawi (LGUoM), said the two were selected based on their young age, good behaviour and the huge potential displayed in the union’s activities last year.
“We need to expose these girls internationally at this young age. Ashley and Rihanna have got huge potential to excel in the game of golf and we are excited to have them in our squad,” Kunje said.
The tournament will be played on over 54 holes in the Championship, A and B Divisions.
There will be a trier’s division for beginners with handicaps over 36 who will only play 18 holes on Saturday June 5.
The tournament has attracted female golfers from Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Botswana.
