Taekwondo Association of Malawi’s (Tam) two members have been invited to a tournament in Muju, South Korea from June 24 to 30.
National Coach, Lovemore Masinga and Joseph Phiri from Mzuzu have been earmarked for the 2017 Muju WTF World Taekwondo Championship.
Masinga said the invitation was a big plus to local taekwendo.
“This is a great development as Malawi had no representatives at the previous tournaments due to financial problems. This is a golden opportunity for the country to be recognised,” he said.
The organsiers will meet all the expenses for the Malawian athletes.
Tam President, Benedicto Tsinde, said Malawi’s presence at the tournament could go a long way in revamping the country’s taekwendo.
Before the tournament, participants will undergo training.
The tournament in South Korea will involve 140 representatives from 70 countries
