Minister of Civic Education and National Unity Timothy Mtambo and two members of Parliament Susan Dossi and Ulemu Chilapondwa are among 28 board members for Mighty Wanderers Football Club 2021 Limited.
Other high-profile officials in the board include Brigadier General Phillip Prince Nyamali, former Wanderers vice chairperson Jack Kamwendo. Clement Stambuli and business consultant Maxwell Kalamula.
According to a statement dated 26th July 2021, which Wanderers President Thom Mpinganjira signed, Humphreys Mvula, who was heading the commercialisation taskforce, has been appointed to act as Secretary to the Board of Directors and, when directed, speak for the board on general routine issues.
“The board appointed counsel Chancy Gondwe as legal adviser for the board,” the statement reads.
Gondwe has also been appointed acting Chief Executive Officer for Wanderers management team.
According to the statement, Limbani Magomero is the club’s acting administration manager whereas Dokani Mkwanda has been selected acting commercial manager.
Adelaide Migogo is holding the post of acting finance manager whereas Ernest Maganga has been named acting public affairs manager.
Mpinganjira said all board members were consulted and they agreed to serve the company.
“The board will in due course announce names of directors in each board sub-committee after carrying out necessary initial rationalisation to ensure nearer equal numbers exist in each board sub-committee,” the statement reads.
Other members of the board include Mwaonanji Wenday Kavalo, Lumbani Zgambo Mtonyo, Makhumbo James Mapunda, Gift Mkandawire, Mervin Kaumba Nkunika, Samuel Mponda and former chairperson Simeon Eddington Sikwese.
Meanwhile, Mvula clarified that some officials and high-profile technocrats did not take up posts when offered.
“But the most important thing is that we have a good board with capable people on this commercialisation project,” he said.
