United Kingdom-based stand-up comedian Daliso Chaponda held two shows in Lilongwe over the weekend.
Daliso was billed to hold only one show in Lilongwe but another performance was arranged for him by Kweza at the eleventh hour.
The first show was on Friday at Kumbali and this was VIP, with people digging deeper in their pockets. Being a VIP comedy night, people paid K85,000 per person and K160,000 for a couple with a three course dinner inclusive.
But despite being VIP event, poet Q Malewezi, who also performed, said the show sold out.
“People supported the show and everything went on well,” Q said Sunday.
He said due to public demand, they organised a second show for Daliso at the eleventh hour at Malville Boutique Hotel.
“The second show came in due to high demand and although the announcement came late, people patronised the event,” Q said.
The stand-up comedian was expected to hold another show in Blantyre but Q said they failed to put up one.
Daliso said Sunday he was excited to be back home.
The last time the British Got Talent finalist held a show in the country was before Covid hit the world.
He has since assured people that he would come back later in the year for another proper public show.
