Our artists had great hopes that, this festive season, they would hold some performances to cover up for the loss over the past nine months! Alas, there are new Covid-19 pandemic preventive measures that have been imposed on the land. The public gatherings have been restricted to a 100 people and of course all borders closed.

Yeah country folks, health experts have warned of an increase in cases of Covid-19 pandemic due to a number of factors. They have indicated change of weather, travelling and also institutions relaxing in following strict measures to mitigate the impact of pandemic.

There have also been observations that a lot of people are not washing hands frequently with soap, not observing social distancing and not putting on face masks in public spaces. These developments are worrying the health experts.

Livelihood

Yeah countryfolks, I am at home today and listening to some blues. I hear the blues from the motherland. The artists are crying for the strict Covid-19 pandemic prevention measures restricting gatherings to only 100 people.

There is no way artists can survive with such limitations. In a period when the economy has also suffered, there is a need to bail out artists. Our artists are the most affected as they survive from hand to mouth.

Yeah country folks, thinking aloud, as I follow the global tends during this festive season, I hope the authorities will consider the livelihood of our beloved artists with a special fund.

Wishing all valued readers a blessed Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Aluta continua.
