27-year-old hits K33 million jackpot

A 27-year-old pool table operator Precious Chilipa from Area 23 in Lilongwe is now a millionaire after winning K33 million in sports betting.
He hit the jackpot after placing two K200 worth of bets on different occasions.
He smiled all the way to the bank Wednesday each of the two tickets won him K16.5 million.
Chilipa, who is married and has one child, said he will invest the money through buying a piece of land.
“I need to build a house for my family. I will therefore buy myself a piece of land. Part of the money will go towards the transport business which I have always wanted to venture into. I am so excited to have won such a big amount of money.
“Let me take this opportunity to assure people in the country to trust Premier Bet when it comes to sports betting. This is something that is real. People are winning with Premier Bet and I am living to testify about this,” he said.
Chilipa then cautioned people against treating betting as a business.
“My fellow gamblers should not be treating betting as business. It is not something they should be doing every other day. They should continue doing whatever brings food on the table and treat betting as a pastime. This is just what it is-a game; where you win sometimes and you also lose. Let’s therefore bet responsibly,” he said.
Lilongwe-based Premier Bet Commercial Director Trevor Whitaker described the win as a clear indicator of the power of sports betting.
“This is a life changing opportunity for the winner. Congratulations to him. We believe this is a motivation to all players of the game,” Whitaker said.
Chilipa hails from Phetembe Village in the area of T/A Kuntumanji in Zomba District.
