3-year soft-drinks supply to MBTS from Carlsberg
Carlsberg Malawi has signed a three year agreement with the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) for the supply of 30 crates of assorted soft drinks per month for consumption by donors during blood donation exercises.
Carlsberg marketing director Gwynyth Mchiela said the agreement was the company’s contribution to efforts to encourage blood donation among Malawians.
“It is a medical requirement that a blood donor should supplement their body with fluids and the soft drinks we are committing today are for that purpose,” said Mchiela.
She encouraged Carlsberg’s members of staff and communities surrounding the company to donate blood to MBTS.
On his part, MBTS finance and administration director Lilian Mkamanga said the drinks from Carlsberg will meet 10 percent of MBTS’s soft-drink requirements and will help save many lives
