Despite the hullabaloo on the local transfer market, only four deals have been completed through Football Association of Malawi’s transfer matching system.
The association has cleared Misheck Selemani from Nyasa Big Bullets to join Prison FC of Tanzania while Richard Mbulu has acquired an international transfer certificate to join Clube de Desportos da Costa do Sol in Mozambique.
Scorchers attacker Sabina Thomu has also left Simba Super Queens of Tanzania to join MDF Queens while her fellow national women’s football team player Wezzie Mvula has been transferred from DD Sunshine of Malawi to The Tiger Queens Sports Academy of Tanzania.
Fam Club Licencing and Compliance Manager Casper Jangale urged clubs to follow transfer procedures to avoid panicking at the eleventh hour.
“As far as we are concerned, these are the deals that have gone through. We have read in the media about teams signing new players but most of those deals have not been completed by the domestic transfer matching system as required.
“Most of the times, teams tend to sign players earlier but take time to formalise the deal with us through the system. This forces them to panic at the eleventh hour. It is our hope that the teams will be doing things orderly,” he said.
Most teams have been active on the transfer market in readiness for the forthcoming season.
One of the major transfers that has happened on the domestic scene involved striker Gaddie Chirwa, who moved to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers from Blue Eagles.
Chirwa signed for Wanderers at K7.5 million to set a new domestic transfer record.
Wanderers have also signed Christopher Kumwembe from Civil Service United, attacker Mphatso Kamanga from Karonga United and Mighty Tigers duo of defender Emmanuel Nyirenda and goalkeeper Dalitso Khungwa.
Similarly, Silver Strikers are also active on the transfer market after signing a pre-contract with Nyasa Big Bullets striker Hassan Kajoke.
The bankers have also poached China Chirwa from TN Stars and the Ekwendeni Hammers duo of Gift Chunga and Emmanuel Kaunga.
Silver have released Frank Banda, Mike Robert, Levison Maganizo and Misheck Malaicha while the side is also in discussions with Taonga Chimodzi, Blessings Tembo, John Chalamanda and Prince Phiri for possible release.
