Lilongwe-based basketball giants, Bravehearts, have organised an international tournament involving teams from four countries.
The tournament is scheduled for Mount Sinai International High School from March 3 to 5.
The tournament will involve 15 female and male basketball teams from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.
Announcing the news in Lilongwe yesterday, Bravehearts’ Programme Coordinator, Dominic Munyenyembe, said the tournament would offer exposure to local basketballers.
“Our aim is to take basketball to another level and we are committed to continue sponsoring the sport. We believe the tournament will be a good platform to expose local players,” Munyenyembe said.
G.Y Imports and Exports and its sister company, DR Print, have pumped in K7 million for the tournament.
Basketball Association of Malawi (Basmal) General Secretary, Edgar Ng’ong’ola, hailed Bravehearts and G.Y Imports and Exports for coming up with the tournament.
Zimbabwean basketball giants, Harare City Hornets will take part in the tournament alongside Falcons, Foxes, Vixens (also from Zimbabwe), Napsa (Zambia) and Mbeya Flames from Tanzania.
Central Knights, Bricks and Bravehearts will represent Malawi during the tournament in the men’s category.
Bravehearts Ladies, Mystics and Angels will also be part of the event.
