4 netballers vie for GOtv award
Four players have been nominated for this year’s GOtv Netball Champions League award dubbed Katswiri wa Katswiri.
Civonets seasoned shooter, Jane Chimaliro, Tigresses’ Ellen Chibokho, Loveness Sambo of Mafco Soldiers and Kukoma Diamonds’ attacker Grace Chazungulira have been nominated following their impressive form in the league, which is being played on fast5 format.
The quartet earned rare reviews after showing flashes of brilliance in the first and second rounds of the league, with the final round scheduled for Don Bosco in Lilongwe tomorrow.
GOtv sponsor, MultiChoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager, Chimwemwe Nyirenda, confirmed the nominations.
“This year, we will only have one winner of the award. We will recognise a top player who has been instrumental since the competition started. So, through a panel of officials, journalists and former players, we have selected the four following their outstanding performance,” he said.
In the final round, Kukoma Diamonds will meet Civonets whereas Mafco Soldiers date Blue Eagles in a third/fourth place play-off.
Tigresses and Thunder Queens will battle it out in a fifth/sixth place play-off as Mimosa and Lamech meet in a seven/eight position play-off.
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, said spectators will pay K200 to watch the finals.
