The race for the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) presidency continues to gather momentum with a fourth aspirant, Balawala Vingula, staking his claim to the hot seat.
Vingula has appeared on the scene with about two months before delegates to the Fam elections make their choice in December.
Speaking when he unpacked his five-paged blueprint in Blantyre on Friday, Vingula promised to transform Malawi football once elected.
In his 14-point plan, Vingula pledged to, among others, hike incentives for all national team football players.
“My name might be new to Malawi’s football administration but I am capable of changing our game for the better. My priority will be the welfare of national team players so that they deliver on the pitch.
“Each player will be getting K80,000 per day as training allowance. The game bonuses will be K100,000 for a loss, K200,000 for a draw and K300,000 for a win. There will also be free internet bundles for players,” he said.
Vingula said he would also ensure that players keep their jerseys and shorts after every game as opposed to returning the uniform.
The 30-year-old said he would turn beach soccer into a tourist sport, promote grassroots and youth football development and lobby for increase in football funding and sponsorship.
“I have approached most of the affiliates and they have expressed satisfaction with my manifesto. I am not new in football administration. I am a graduate of the University of Pretoria [in South Africa] and I worked with Play Soccer Malawi as a manager for over five years. People should not look at money but my capabilities to transform Malawi football,” Vingula.
Vingula is likely to face off with incumbent Fam president Walter Nyamilandu and his vice James Mwenda, Karonga United Chairperson Alufeyo Chipanga Banda and former administrator Moses Mkandawire.
