50 percent for Silver players
Silver Strikers players will share 50 percent of Carlsberg Cup’s runner-up prize money (K5 million), the team’s General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, has confirmed.
“We are still mourning that loss. We thought that the cup was ours. Nonetheless, we agreed that half the prize money will be shared among the players, proportionate to the number of games they played in the cup,” Nyirenda confirmed on Friday.
Silver captain, Lucky Malata, on Monday confirmed that they will share the money.
“There are 27 of us and the sharing depends on the number of appearances. If you have played all five games, like I did, the amount would be more,” Malata said.
Each player would have pocketed K185,000 if the money was to be shared equally. Members of the coaching panel are also likely to get their slice of the cake.
Silver lost 5-4 on post-match penalties to Wanderers after playing out to a 1-1 draw in regulation time at Kamuzu Stadium a fortnight ago.
Nomads players will share K7.2 million, representing 60 percent of the K12 million prize money, General Secretary, Mike Butao, confirmed recently
