7 injured in road accident

Seven people have been injured and six cars damaged in a road accident involving a Scania truck and five other vehicles along the Old Chileka Road in Blantyre City.
Ndirande Police spokesperson, Edina Mzingwitsa, has confirmed the development.
Mzingwitsa said the Scania truck, registration number NU 3637, en-route to Kameza Roundabout, developed brake failure on Monday.
The truck hit five vehicles before it hit the fence of Chombo Orphanage Centre.
“When the truck reached Monarch, it hit three vehicles and proceeded to hit two more at Dennis before it swerved to the left and hit a fence of Chombo Orphanage.
Advertisement“Seven people got injured in the accident. Six of them were treated as outpatients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital while the driver of the truck, Hastings Phiri, is still receiving treatment at the hospital,” she said.
The accident occurred just days after a train hit a truck at a railway crossing in Machinjiri Township, Blantyre.
