Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) has invited 72 players from Malawi Schools Sports Association to undergo camping in readiness of the Region 5 Games slated for Lesotho in December.
The camp follows intensive nationwide selection exercise which saw hundreds attending in four major netball zones Blantyre, Lilongwe, Zomba and Mzuzu.
Nam General Secretary Isaac Chimwala confirmed that camping will end on August 29 at Likuni Boys Secondary School.
“Under 18 players have gone into camp to prepare for Region 5 Youth Games. This follows a vigorous talent identification exercise that took place over the past months. We are very confident that this now forms a pool of talent that will be nurtured and modelled into our future Queens. The future is bright,” he said.
Queens experienced players Caroline Mtukule Ngwira and Joanna Kachilika are at the helm of the side.
Nam, under the guidance of the Malawi National Netball Team Coach Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa and Technical Director Sam Kanyenda were part of the exercise.
Recently, Kaluwa said players would be grouped into different age brackets to groom them systematically.
