Eight contestants will battle it out in this year’s Zuri Africa Queen grand finale to be held at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe Saturday.
Zuri Africa Country Director, Chimwemwe Buleya, said all was set for the grand finale that will see the selection of a queen who would represent the country in South Africa in October.
The local winner will compete with winners from other countries in the Zuri Africa global finals.
“We went to all parts of the country and selected models. The models are ready and we are ready to give people an exciting event,” Buleya said.
Buleya, who is the 2018 Miss Malawi second princess, pleaded for support.
“We cannot do it on our own; we need support and that is why we are calling upon them to come out and be part of this event,” she said.
Initially, nine contestants were supposed to battle it out tomorrow but Buleya said, due to circumstances beyond their control, eight have availed themselves of the finale.
The eight contestants are Claire Thindwa, Immaculate Gulura, Madalo Malunga, Catherine Songo, Yvonne Nyirenda, Amber Chidzalo Natasha Simakweli and Prisca Makhusu.
Running under the theme ‘Promoting and Celebrating Malawi’s Culture and Tradition’, the grand finale will be spiced up by music performances from Tuno, Lulu, Sangwani and Amahoro Dance Crew.
“I would like to thank those that have assisted us, including Black Opal, Casino Marina, Fitness Factory Gym, Skyline International, Eye Level Art, Kuwala Creatives and Glam and Glory. We still need support,” Buleya said.
