Moyale Barracks FC could suffer a big blow next season as eight of their key players have been earmarked for Malawi Defence Force (MDF) duties outside the country.
Moyale assistant Coach, Charles Kamanga, Tuesday confirmed that the players— Timothy Nyirenda, Chamveka Gwetsani, Wiseman Kamanga, Mtopijo Njewa, Robert Simkonda and Kondwani Chirwa— might be assigned to work in peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for a year.
“This is not the final list, but these names are, indeed, there [on the shortlist]. The issue is in the hands of the officials,” he said.
However, Kamanga said that the team has many players capable of replacing those that might leave for the DRC.
The eight players helped Moyale reach the semi-finals of Airtel Top 8 and Carlsberg cups plus the Fisd Challenge Cup final.
Moyale finished the just-ended league campaign on position seven with 44 points, 25 behind champions, Be Forward Wanderers.
