TNM plc finally implemented the Mpamba e-ticketing system during Super League matches held over the weekend.

TNM Head of Brands and Marketing Madalitso Jonazi said they have taken a huge step in curbing gate fraud.
“The roll-out of TNM Mpamba e-ticketing was a resounding success, marking a significant milestone in the TNM Super League. It simplified ticketing processes and elevated the fan experience to new heights.
“This successful debut underscores the league’s dedication to innovation and modernisation, setting a high standard for future matches to follow,” Jonazi said.
The e-ticketing solution uses TNM’s mobile money platform Mpamba and its Mpamba-linked debit card to facilitate access to matches and complements cash ticket sales.

Initially, TNM, a long-term sponsor of the TNM Super League, used the two-day Sapitwa preseason bonanza to try out the project.
However, Jonazi could not be drawn to comment on whether the top flight league sponsors have ironed out ciontract issues with the Super League of Malawi (Sulom).
On a positive note, TNM officials also graced matches and branded venues with the company’s colours, having failed to do so in the opening week.

Sulom President Gilbert Mittawa could not be reached to comment on the issue but recently told our sister paper, The Sunday Times, that gate fraud-related cases would drop following the invention of the Mpamba-driven e-ticketing service.

“It is a very crucial innovation [not only] for the league but also Malawi football in general for a number of reasons. It is something that is going to help us [as Sulom and clubs] to manage leakages which have been associated with gate management for the longest period.
“So, as you might be aware, our gate management systems are subject to leakages which, in the long run, have resulted in reduced revenue for clubs. So, with the system, we are assured that we are going to mitigate that,” Mittawa said.
