Former Silver Strikers and Masters Security coach, Abas Makawa, has found a new lease of life at Central Region Football League Premier Division side Ntcheu Strikers, formerly Lake Valley.

Ntcheu Strikers owner, Master Khombe, said Makawa signed a one-year deal.

Khombe said they brought in Makawa because of his TNM Super League experience.

“Our target is to earn promotion to the Super League and we believe Makawa is the man to take us there. We are happy to have him in our camp,” Khombe said.

Makawa said he was ready for the challenge.

“This is not my first time at this club. I was here in 2016 and 2017 and I am familiar with the surroundings. Ntcheu Strikers approached me to take over the coaching job and I accepted.

“I am happy that I am here again. This place is my second home. The last time I was here, the club won the Division One championship to earn Premier Division promotion,” he said.

Makawa said winning the Fisd Challenge Cup at district and regional levels was his other achievement at the club which he believes can be repeated.

“My target is to win as many games as possible and take it from there. But for this to be possible, I have to bring in some experienced players to beef up the squad. Of course, this will depend on how much support I will get from management of the club. Every coach needs good players if he is to perform and I am no exception.

“Once football activities resume, I will go out to assess all my players and see where we need to beef up. A good working relationship among all stakeholders is also paramount. I therefore have no doubt that if the players are well looked after, the team can achieve its targets,” Makawa said.

Earlier this year, Makawa was fired at Silver Strikers after joining from Masters in July last season.
