Youthful Christian group of Limbe CCAP in Blantyre – Abwenzi— will be praying for nothing but the best on Sunday when they will be launching their second album Kumwamba Tikanjoya at Blantyre Cultural Centre (BCC).

Of late, gospel shows have been suffering setbacks due to poor turnout but Abwenzi are hopeful that all will be well.

Formed in 2009, the group is made up of Vitumbiko Ngulube, Chinsinsi Zigowa and Stanley Chiwaya.

The group debuted with Mwachita Zazikulu and, according to the trio, the message in the second album is a continuation of the message in their first album.

Zigowa said the group’s vision is to evangelise to the world through music.

“We should say it here that this group’s formation was also inspired by The Marching Soldiers. This is one of the groups we have looked up to basically because their music is centred on spreading the gospel,” he said.

Ngulube said that the first album did well on the market and that they were hoping for the best with the second album.

The launch at BCC, formerly known as French Cultural Centre, will be spiced up by Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Favoured Martha, Eliza Mponya, Khama Khwiliro, Evance Meleka, Estiner Katengeza and Mighty POV.

The 10-track album was recorded by veteran producer and musician Joseph Tembo and OBK Chitheka.

Some of the songs in the album include ‘Kukoma’, ‘Muzamva’, ‘Musaope’, ‘Ndidzapita Ndekha’ ‘Muchite Nane’, ‘Yalula Mphasa’ and ‘Bwelera Kwa Yesu’.
