Actress Suya is ambassador for youth organization
Renowned actress Flora Suya, who recently disclosed that she is working on her own movie, is the ambassador for Progressive Young Ambassadors for Development (PYAD).
PYAD Executive Director Jonah Pankuku said yesterday that they were honoured that the actress, who has starred in Shemu Joyah’s movies Seasons of a Life and The Last Fishing Boat had accepted their request.
“We are happy with her being the ambassador and this follows her visit. What is more important here is the meeting point between PYAD and Suya towards achieving a common goal. We are hopeful that the marriage that started months ago after her visit will continue to flourish for the betterment of youths in the country,” said Pankunku.
Flora Suya confirmed on Wednesday she accepted the role saying for a longtime she has been looking for a platform where she could work with the youth in different aspects.
“ I was motivated by the group’s vision and objectives. I felt Malawi has youths who have the ability to live purposeful life if exposed and supported. I made a decision to be part of such a youthful community that can bring change in various facets of life,” said the actress.
She added that she would value much if her ambassadorial position helps youths at PYAD achieve their aspirations through various initiatives targeting at empowering them.
Suya said together with these proactive youths, they will work towards giving Malawians youths the value they deserve through various innovations and transformational contribution in governance issues.
PYAD which is based in Lilongwe and started in November last year, is a nonprofit organisation with close to 100 youths. The organisations sole purpose is to produce creative and proactive youths that stand to make transformational changes with focus areas in among others talent identification, climate change and HIV/Aids and behavioural change.
