Business leaders have been advised to adapt to changes in the operating environment if their businesses are to survive and remain relevant.
This was said on Tuesday in Blantyre during a leadership workshop organised by Sycamore Consult Limited. Sycamore Consult
Limited founder, Audrey Mwala, said it is important for leaders to embrace new skills to remain relevant.
“We are in a new era and environment where the landscape for doing business is totally different. A lot of businesses have stagnated, some are just defending their positions, some are downsizing or closing and is because the leadership styles have not changed” Mwala said.
She urged participants to remain focused if they are to grow their businesses. Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority Revenue Assurance Manager, Daniel Datchi, reiterated Mwala’s statement, saying leaders must know themselves.
“The workshop was an eye opener for someone who is aspiring to be a leader. They say, to be a leader, you must know to lead yourself.
You can never make a good leader if you don’t know how to be organised”, Datchi said.
