Admarc staff for board dissolution

The Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (Admarc) Workers Union has asked the government to dissolve the board of the entity and bring back the suspended General Manager Rhino Chiphiko.
These among other demands the workers made when they met officials from the Ministry of Agriculture this week. Earlier, they threatened a nationwide sit-in if their demands were not met
Admarc Workers Union Chairperson John Hassan confirmed the development, saying it took place early this week.
Hassan accused the board of extravagance, saying it holds a lot of board meetings while the company is failing to deal with some financial hiccups such as settling pension arrears to pension fund managers.
“Even though we were not told about when our problems will be sorted, we are hopeful that it will be soon because, on Tuesday, the Minister of Finance said they will be meeting to sort the issue out,” he said.
During the presidential press briefing on Tuesday, Minister of Finance Sosten Gwengwe said government has followed the developments at Admarc with keen interest and will be devising solutions.
The Admarc Board Chairperson Alezander Kusamba Dzodzi was not immediately available for a comment as his phone could not be reached.
