Adra donates drugs worth K180m to BT DHO
The Adventist Development Relief Agency (Adra) Malawi on Wednesday donated drugs worth K180 million to Blantyre District Health Office (DHO)
The move comes in the wake of recent media reports that DHOs across the country have been hit hard by drug shortages.
Adra Country Director, Claudio Sandoval, said they have been hearing about cases of shortage of drugs in the hospitals so they decided to do something about it.
“As Adra we are concerned with the wellbeing of the people of Malawi. So, we just don’t promote agriculture and water sanitation. We also help in health so we have handed over the drugs so they can improve their health status,” explained Sandoval.
He, however, urged authorities in the health sector to take care of the drugs and give them to the right people.
Blantyre District Health Officer, Medson Matchaya, said the donation came at a right time as they have insufficient drugs in hospitals.
He assured Adra that they will take care of the drugs.
