Agri-fair set for next month

EAGER—Exhibitors during the previous fair

The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) has announced that the agricultural fair which failed to take place last year due to Covid will take place from 21 to 23 October.

The exhibition will be held at Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre under the theme ‘Building the Agriculture Sector Back and Better in Covid Environment’.

According to MCCCI President James Chimwaza, the decision to host the fair has been necessitated by a drop in new coronavirus cases and the availability of Covid vaccines in the country.

Chimwaza said the fair would bring together players in the agriculture sector to share knowledge and develop links.

“The producers are geared up to come up with good products to show,” he said.

The fair brings together players from the agriculture sector supply chain.

National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (Nasme), whose membership also consists of SMEs dealing in agriculture said bringing back the fair is ideal.

Nasme General Manager Prince Tauzi said the fair would offer players a chance to showcase their products.

“This fair affords SMEs the chance to showcase their products to both local and international audience. We are very happy that it is taking place this year,” Tauzi said.

Last week, MCCCI announced that if coronavirus cases remain remained low, they would conduct the international trade fair early November which also failed last year.
