Airtel donates to Police

Airtel Malawi has donated work equipment worth K2.9 million to Sanctuary Police Unit in Lilongwe to ease some of the challenges the Unit was facing.

The items included office chairs, desks, water dispensers, desktop computers, printers and a filing cabinet.

Officer in Charge of Sanctuary Police, Patrick Kapanga, thanked Airtel for the donation.

“We did not have chairs so these chairs will help our clients to sit when they come to file reports and we will now be able to write computerised reports. People who come here are mostly prominent and require printed documentation so will now be able to do that,” he said.

In his remarks, Airtel Managing Director, Charles Kamoto, said his company realises the role police play in securing lives and property.

“I am sure you will agree with me that our security service providers face various operational challenges in their quest to offer even basic security services in the country. Security is indeed one of our basic human needs which contributes to effective productivity,” he said.
