Airtel hands over school blocks
Airtel Malawi on Wednesday handed over two school blocks and 130 desks to Masenjere Primary School in Nsanje District.
Masenjere is the second school adopted by Airtel Malawi three years ago after Salima Primary School in Salima.
Airtel Malawi Zone 3 Business Manager for the South, Francis Dzama, said the gesture seeks to promote education in the country.
“When Airtel Malawi came to officially adopt this school, we came with 100 double seater desks, four heavy duty pots for cooking and also refurbished the school’s borehole. The borehole catered for learners, teachers and communities at large,” he said.
Dzama said, as a brand, they recognise and acknowledge that the significance of the donation extends beyond the adoption and hand over of such school blocks.
Kalulu Zone Primary Education Advisor, Louis Kuyeri, who represented Nsanje District Education Manager f, hailed Airtel for the donation, saying it would help pupils to learn in a conducive environment.
“With increased enrollment, we are happy that children will now learn in classes while seated. The situation was tough in the past. We also urge other institutions to emulate what Airtel Malawi has done,” he said.
Masenjere Primary School has an enrollment of 1,200 learners.
