Airtel Malawi says it is too early for the company to talk about the future of its three-year K360 million netball sponsorship which is into its final year.
The company’s Corporate Communications and CSR Manager, Norah Chavula, was responding on Monday to The Daily Times’ questionnaire on the future of the sponsorship for Airtel Money Netball Trophy and Malawi netball Queens.
“Commenting on the way forward at the moment would be pre-emptive as the contract is still running its course,” Chavula insisted.
“We will, therefore, be in a better position to comment and advise on the current sponsorship after the sponsorship tenure has ended and all due contractual obligations are finalised.”
She added that the company was committed to sponsoring netball evidenced by the financial support rendered to Malawi Under-21 Netball Team when travelling to Botswana for the recent Netball Africa Youth Championship.
Kukoma Diamonds are the defending champions of the Airtel Money Netball Trophy after beating rivals Tigresses 40- 37 in May to pocket K8 million.
Blue Eagles Sisters finished third after defeating rivals Civonets 49-47 in a third-place play-off.
