Albino killings inspire group to stitch play
The current spate of albino killings in the country has inspired a theatre group – Chikwatu Arts Theatre to come up with a production titled Ndulu.
The play will be premiered tomorrow and restaged on Saturday at Madsoc Theatre in Lilongwe.
The group’s chairpeson Raymond Khesi said they were concerned with the spate of the albino killings which have forced people with albinism in the country to live in fear.
Khesi said it is because of this that they have decided to fight for them and speak out through a play.
“As a group we have noted with concern the human right violation on people with albinism. This is why we came up with this play which is against the killings,” said Khesi.
According to a press statement, Mwezi Arts under its Artist Development Programme trained the group in coming up with a professional play.
The group said the play mixes aspects of physical theatre, traditional dances and high tempo dialogue to create a local masterpiece that can be performed internationally.
Khesi said the audience should expect a professional performance filled with aesthetic theatre experience.
