Alfonso panellist at Cax Wknd 2020
Fashion designer Lilly Alfonso continues to represent Malawi in different platforms through her fashion exploits with her latest being among panellists of actors, creative producers and musicians at Creative Africa Exchange (Cax) Wknd held in Kigali, Rwanda recently.
The award-winning fashion designer, who ended 2019 on a good note receiving the Fashion Legend Award during the Urban Music People (UMP) Blended Awards and later an award in Egypt, said she was happy to have been part of the conference in Rwanda.
The conference saw the players discussing the topic ‘Understanding the African eco-system’.
“It was a big conference attended by over 1500 participants drawn from 68 countries around the world. The Creative Africa Exchange is a consolidated marketplace for the creative and cultural industry in Africa,” Alfonso said.
She said Cax Wknd was brought by the African Export, Afreximbank, Cax programme, in collaboration with African Union as well as other sponsors.
“We also had a fashion show on January 17 2020 during dinner that I was asked to organise,” she said.
The panel which Alfonso was part of also had renowned Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.
She said it was important to be part of such a gathering as they discussed several issues aimed at growing the creative industry and that they also had time to network.
