Football lovers are set to savour their first taste of top class action in the year at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre where Nyasa Big Bullets have organised a three-day international bonanza.

The bonanza kicks off today and ends on Monday with Zimbabwe’s Chicken Inn, Ferroviario de Nampula of Mozambique and Be Forward Wanderers joining the People’s Team in giving soccer fans a rare off-season treat.

Bullets will get the tournament underway against Ferroviario at 12:30pm before Wanderers face Chicken Inn.

Chicken Inn arrived in the country on Wednesday afternoon while Ferroviario arrived on Thursday.

Bullets’ Senior Business Development Officer, Kelvin Moyo, said everything was in place for the bonanza.

“All the invited teams are in the country. Of course, Chicken Inn had a slight problem in Zobue as they approached the Malawi border. Their bus developed a fault but they managed to arrive after it was worked on. Ferroviario de Nampula came into the country through Muloza border and we are good to go,” Moyo said.

He said the Mozambicans have brought in a strong squad comprising of former Mozambique national team players such as Elias Pelembe.

Wanderers Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, commended Bullets for organising the bonanza, saying it will help in their preparations for the new season.

“We accepted the invitation to be part of the competition so that we can gauge our state of readiness for the 2019 season. We have given our technical panel all the support ahead of the bonanza.

“We have also urged our players to beat Bullets and the two other teams so that we underline our superiority. We are looking forward to a great tournament,” Mkandawire said.

Action continues Saturday before the teams take a break on Sunday and return to the pitch on Monday.
