All is set for the draw of the inaugural K90 million FDH Cup national phase at Mpira Village today. The draw will involve 32 teams that qualified for the national phase.

There are a total of 16 teams from TNM Super League and 16 from the three regions—with the Southern and Central Region contributing six teams each, whereas four teams will represent the Northern Region.

This means the top eight teams cannot face each other in the round of 32 of the tournament. Regional teams that have qualified for the national phase include Polytechnic, Neno Giants, Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve, Wanderers Reserve, Immigration and Sable Farming from the Southern Region.

Four teams—namely Rumphi United, Luwinga United, Baka City and Ekwendeni United— will represent the Northern Region whereas Kasungu Police, Dedza Young Soccer, Dedza Dynamos, Ngolowindo and Dwangwa United have qualified for the national phase from the Central Region. The match involving Airborne Rangers and Mbavi United ended prematurely at 1-1 in the 89th minute after the latter protested a penalty which was awarded to Rangers.

All the regional teams that have qualified for the national stage will get K500,000 plus a set of uniform and two match balls.

After the conclusion of the regional phase, FDH Bank plc Marketing Manager Ronald Chimchere said the bank was excited with the level of competition.

Champions of the inaugural FDH Cup will pocket K25 million— the highest prize money in domestic football— whereas the runners will get K8 million.

Semi-finalists will get K2 million whereas quarter-finalists will pocket K1 million. The top goal-scorer of the competition will receive K200,000. There will also be the Discovery of The Competition Award.
