Defending champions, Anchor Industries, have vowed to retain the FMB T20 Cricket Knockout Tournament when they meet Fattani Printers in the final at Mpingwe Sports Club (MSC) Sunday.
Anchor defeated Fargo Limited to win last year’s tournament and this year, the defending champions are also the favourites.
Ahead of the final, Mpingwe Sports Club and FMB officials met captains of both teams where a call for fairplay was emphasised.
Anchor Industries Captain, Karamat Chaudhary, said they cannot let go the title.
“The team’s spirit is just amazing. We know that our counterparts equally want the trophy, but we will do all we can to keep it,” he said.
His counterpart, Saeed Limdawala of Fattani Printers, said they were determined to stun Anchor Industries.
“It was not easy to reach this far. We are the only the team that is capable of beating them,” he said.
Meanwhile, MSC Chairman, Farouk Nathanie, has appreciated the commitment of the club’s Executive Board and Sports Director, Abdu Jagot, for transforming the club through the tournament.
Wahab said he brings new ideas to the organisation of such tournaments
“Now the FMB T20 Cricket Knockout Tournament is the most famous cricket competition in the country,” Jagot said.
FMB’s Head of Corporate, Agness Jazza, said that they were happy with how the tournament has been run.
“We wish the teams that have reached the final the best but they should also observe fair play,” he said.
