All set for ICT Expo

All is set for the two-day inaugural Information Communication Technology (ICT) Expo which starts on Thursday in Lilongwe.
To be held under the theme ‘ICT as a Catalyst for Economic Growth’, the indaba is expected to bring together ICT experts, government officials and other professionals to one place.
Among other things, participants will discuss ways of expanding the ICT sector’s share to the national economy.
Companies and individuals will also showcase innovative technologies that would benefit the country.
There will also be break-away sessions which will focus on topics like financial technology, insurance technology, cloud solutions and cyber security.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Ictam President, Bram Fudzulani, said it was an exciting moment for Malawi as they try to join the rest of the world and African countries on the global innovation space in terms of ICT business and development.
He further said the indaba would critically look at regulatory issues in both the telecommunication and financial sector.
“We are hopeful that the expo is going to influence policy change that is going to grow the sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth. We are also expecting that participants are going to learn more about some of the promising innovations that are representing Malawi at the global level.
“We are hopeful that this expo will help local firms get exposed and at the same time have the corporate sector appreciate the level of skills we have locally,” Fudzulani said.
