All Shades of Beautiful Fashion show to be held in Lilongwe

All Shades of Beautiful Fashion show, driven by Xandria Fashion House, will this year be held in Lilongwe on September 24, having starred in Blantyre during the previous two editions.
Xandria confirmed the development Wednesday and it follows their hosting of the first activity – a private fashion show this year at US Ambassador to Malawi’s residence which attracted high-profile guests including Cabinet ministers.
“We are hoping for Umodzi Park to come as a partner because Bingu International Convention Centre is the ideal place to hold this event successfully,” the designer said.
She said the private fashion show underlines their seriousness in hosting the main event in September.
“All Shades of Beautiful and Xandria displayed the latest fashion trends that focus on people with disabilities both as designers and models,” Xandria said.
She said All Shades of Beautiful aims at promoting inclusivity and diversity in the fashion industry.
“The event showcased styles and designs that are designed by diverse designers including those with disabilities to cater to individuals with disabilities, including those with mobility impairments, hearing and vision impairments and intellectual disabilities,” Xandria said.
Some of the notable people that patronised the fashion show included US Ambassador to Malawi David Young, Minister of Gender Jean Sendeza and Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule.
“One of the key highlights of the event was the demonstration of adaptive clothing. These are clothes designed to meet the specific needs of individuals with disabilities. These are clothes with easy to use fasteners for those with mobility impairments or clothing that uses braille labels for people, who are visually impaired,” Xandria said.
She said they were happy with the positive feedback they received during the fashion show from, among others, disability advocates.
“We hope that this fashion show will inspire more fashion designers and brands to create adaptive clothing and promote inclusivity in the industry,” Xandria said.
She hailed the US Ambassador for accommodating the fashion show as well as emphasising to the audience the importance of inclusivity and diversity in fashion and expressed the need to create a world where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to participate in everything.
