A film by Ashukile Mwakisulu titled All We Have is Us, which premiered on Independence Day, is on the move and is set to screen in the country as well as outside the country this month and next month.

Mwakisulu said Monday that, having premiered it in Blantyre, they wanted people to watch the film in different places and that, after exhausting this, they will now look at putting it on DVD.

The itinerary of the film starts with a screening in Lilongwe at Latitude Hotel this coming Saturday before flying to Manchester Inn Suites, Connecticut in the United States of America on October 30, and then Savoy Cinema, Nottingham, in United Kingdom (UK) on November 13.

“Since the premiere, the feedback has been overwhelming. People, both in and outside the country, are longing to watch the film and we believe this is the time to show it,” Mwakisulu said.

He said the film is in the UK being sponsored by Motomoney.

“We have had a premiere in USA and the film is going there for the second time and this shows that it won hearts and then we have a premiere in Lilongwe,” Mwakisulu said.

He said this is also a great opportunity for them in terms of exposure.

“People in the diaspora are getting to appreciate what is being done back home and this could also mean an opening for other opportunities,” Mwakisulu said.

He said there is now that love for movies and that Malawians are now embracing the cinema culture which has been dead for years.

“It’s really encouraging. And filmmakers are really coming up. We have seen a number of movies being premiered. There are stories out there to be told and all what is needed is support,” Mwakisulu, who is also the creator of Choices soapie, said.

All We Have is Us is based on the life and experiences of Elsie, played by Mwai Simbota, in terms of her background, upbringing and everything else focusing on love and relationships.

The movie is a dedication to Juliet Royo Chikweba, who died early this year and is also part of the cast.

Apart from Royo Chikweba, other members of the cast include Simunye Nyamali, Hope Chisanu, Blessings Suya and Yankho Seunda.
