Four people have died and six others have sustained various degrees of injuries in a road accident involving two vehicles at Kandoje Village along the Chingeni- Zalewa part of the M1 Road.

The four are three locals—two women aged 39 and 20 and a girl aged 14— and a 70-year-old American national.

A report made available to The Daily Times by Neno Police Officer-in-Charge Dennis Nankondwa states that the accident occurred at around 11 Sunday morning.

According to the report, one vehicle, a Toyota Ractis saloon, with five passengers on board, was coming from the direction of Kam’mwamba Trading Centre going towards Zalewa, when it hit a pothole.

The vehicle swerved into the right lane and was hit by a Toyota Porte saloon coming from the opposite direction.

The victims were taken to Lisungwi Community Hospital where one person was announced dead upon arrival and three others died while receiving treatment.

Three of those involved were American, Dutch and Congolese nationals.
