Andrew Matrauza burial Friday
Renowned musician Andrew Matrauza who died Thursday at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre will be laid to rest Friday at his home Ndawawa Village in Zomba.
Matrauza’s remains were carried from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital mortuary Thursday afternoon.
Several people who included artists escorted the remains yesterday.
The singer famed for songs such as ‘Musadabwe,’ which continues to enjoy airplay in weddings was admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital last Friday.
His father told The Daily Times on Monday that his son had been complaining of stomach pains.
Late Matrauza was also admitted at Chiradzulu District Hospital where he was discharged before being admitted at QECH.
Matrauza stayed in South Africa for sometime before his return in July this year.
According to his father, Matrauza was born on May 31, 1978.
He is survived by a wife and two children.
His death has saddened several artists who have described him as a talented musician who had his own touch.
“I am shocked with his death, late Andrew Matrauza was very talented and he had his own style,” said musician Fuggie Kasipa.
Member of Parliament Bon Kalindo better known as Winiko in the comic circles said the creative industry has lost a talented musician.
“I went to see him at the hospital on Tuesday and to hear that he is dead today [Thursday], I am saddened. I am sad because he was still in his youth and the country is losing more youth who are the leaders of today and tomorrow,” he said.
