Renowned musician Andrew Matrauza is admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre where he is critically ill.
The musician, who has entertained Malawians with his music the past years before he went to South Africa, is currently admitted in Ward 3B.
His father said on Tuesday that Matrauza came back from South Africa in July and that since his return, he has not been well.
“We came here on Friday, he has not been well but as of today the situation has greatly improved. We are waiting for tests which will be conducted because he has been complaining of stomach pains,” said the musician’s father.
The Daily Times could not speak to the musician yesterday after paying him a visit.
Gospel singer Thoko Suya who visited Matrauza on Monday called on fellow musicians to pray for him.
His long time friend Joseph Tembo, a renowned musician and producer and former Member of Parliament said Matrauza needs support from fellow musicians and Malawians.
Matrauza came onto the limelight after releasing songs such as ‘Musadabwe,’ which enjoyed airplay in most of the local radio stations, entertainment centres and wedding ceremonies.
The musician featured in most of Tembo’s music videos which enjoyed airplay on MBC TV and he also featured Tembo in some of his music videos.
